Are you in the Houston, TX, area????

Greg McDougal is going to be in the area on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11, to do a concert. He's got another concert in LA the next week: WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE HIM DO A CONCERT FOR YOU????? Please go to his website and email him, so he can get you on his schedule!!!! Let me tell you, his concerts are worth attending, and you will be SO blessed by their experience with God!

OK, on to stamping. :) This is a card from the Christmas Card 10/10/10 last week. It's a smaller card, because of the size of the stamp, but I really like it. We used Night of Navy card stock and ink, and Whisper White card stock; the white you see is matted on the inside on top of a little sliver of Summer Sun, the same color as the marker we used to color the star. The stamp is from the set HOLY TRIPTYCH, and the sentiment inside is from STAR-STUDDED SEASON - both of those are only available until the end of this month!!!! We used the Aquapainters to pull the ink color in from the stamped image. It's one of my favorite techniques with them - because you can still get the coordinating color, but it's not as dark as if you use ink directly.
Don't forget, too, that the DECORATIVE PAPER SALE is only good for this month, too!!!!! I'll be showing you some projects using it this week, because it's SUCH a great sale!!! Buy three at regular price - $9.95 each - and get one FREE!!!! Use it for your Christmas cards, decorations, gifts - SO much!!!!!! Email me at poohisstampin@aol.com for more details! :)
OK, everyone. I'm going to get going; I have a class to teach this morning, and one tonight. Actually, they're STAMP CAMPS! :) All about DECORATING for Christmas! So tomorrow will be a picture of one of the projects. :) I can't wait to share with you!
Please forward my blog link to people! So many of you are now subscribing to my updates that the counter's not moving - and we all want to have a BLOG CANDY CONTEST, don't we???? :D
Have a WONDERFUL day, everyone!!!!!! Don't forget to TAKE THE TIME TO STAMP SOMETHING!!!!!!!!

WHAT a weekend!!!!

Those of you who are friends of Ken's know that yesterday - 10/14 - was his birthday. It was a big milestone for him. so it was a big day! :)

To start with, our Sunday school class threw a breakfast pitch-in to celebrate - we had quiche, sausage casserole, venison sausage, chocolate chip cookie bars, biscuits, apple slices with pumpkin dip, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, and I made homemade cinnamon rolls. They were yummy - I used to make them a lot, but we're trying to be more careful with carbs around here. :D They were a great treat...!

Then, Lee (Ken's best friend since kindergarten) and Corrine (Lee's wife, who are celebrating their third anniversary today) flew in to surprise him - I led them in during the welcome time, and his face was PRICELESS!!! :D

For lunch, we went to El OK Corral, not far from our house. I tried, DESPERATELY, to discourage this - we'd been for lunch the two days before, and his surprise party was going to be tacos - but that's where we ended up going. :D They sang "Feliz Cumpleanos" to him. (For you gringos y gringas out there, that's Happy Birthday in Spanish! :D) We had a great time, and he was starting to come out of the shock.

We went home, and Lee & Corrine went to take a nap - they'd been up over 24 hours except for small naps they could catch on the plane - and I headed off for a baby shower stop. I wasn't gone long, but had a chance to finalize everything with Angela. She and Cris P. had planned all the decorations, etc, because I just couldn't get away to do anything! THEY ARE AWESOME - thanks SO much, girls!!!!! Anyway. I came home, and we rested and talked for a bit.

Mom & Dad took off "to drop off food for the church" at 5, and we were "going to meet them at a place that was supposed to be a big surprise" for Ken. :D At 6, I took him out to the car and made him wear a blindfold - NOT a fun thing, but he still had no clue about a party. ROFL! I told him Dad wanted it to be a big surprise!! :D Lee and Corrine had changed into their costumes, and we took off and drove around for about 15 minutes - the church is 4 minutes from our house. :D I dropped Lee & Corrine off so she could get photos, and told Ken I was taking him to park. I drove onto the grass, and parked the car. I made him stand up out of the car and turn to face everyone before I took off the blindfold. He was AGAIN shocked!!!!!!!!!!! :D

This is Lee and Corrine in their hippy costumes; it was a HIPPY BIRTHDAY party. :D SUCH fun to surprise him!!!! We had just about 30 people there, including Greg McDougal and his family.

While Ken was cutting the cake, Greg went to get his guitar - and borrowed Lee's wig. Here's what HE looked like!!!

I honestly think it needs to be his next album cover....:D

Towards the end of the party, we had Ken open his "gifts". Unknown to him, we'd asked everyone to bring salt shakers as a gag gift - Ken LOVES salt, and basically owns the shakers around here. :D But we couldn't just let him open them. Oh, no! We had to serenade him with

MARGARITAVILLE! :D

It was a wonderful party. He received phone calls from his brother in the afternoon, his daughter during the party, and several friends throughout yesterday and today. I think he was absolutely flabbergasted by the surprises throughout the day - and we had a lovely day today with Lee & Corrine. They will be flying home tomorrow, but it was a great day - and we celebrated their anniversary all day, too!

I do have ONE last photo to share. This is his cake; I had the Hermitage Bakery do it, and I was THRILLED!!! They did a great job! :)

LAST DAY TO ENTER THE DRAWING!

I went on the Tennessee Stampers Retreat this weekend. This is a fun group of ladies, let me tell you! :) We stamped, talked, and laughed all weekend. Oh, and ATE. LOL! There was enough sweet stuff to feed an army, and the camp's food was great, too! Thank you, everyone, for making us newbies feel so accepted! :)

I'll be showing off some of our projects as I scan or photograph them, or finish them. :)

Don't forget: today is the LAST DAY to enter a drawing for Greg McDougal's CD! All you have to do is leave a comment here on my blog, on any entry you want! It's not difficult, and we're giving away FIVE of them!!! So your chances are pretty darned good! :) It's a great cause - and you can feel free to go purchase a CD as soon as you don't win one. :D (See, I almost NEVER win anything, so this way, you'll be prepared....:D)

Too much to do, not enough time again!!!!! OH, please pray for Becky P.; she's having severe toothaches, and arrived home yesterday after retreat to find that her 5-year-old daughter has a severe break in her leg. They're going to the surgeon today, to see if that's something they're going to have to deal with. Thanks, everyone!

Excitement is building!

WOW, so much going on around here!!!!!! First of all, if you try to get ahold of me this weekend, it may be VERY difficult! If you call my cell phone, Ken will have it - he can contact me if it's an emergency, but I'm out of town until later on Sunday.

OK. That part's out of the way. :D I'm sending out the HOSTESS APPRECIATION LUNCHEON INVITATIONS today!!!!!! I cannot WAIT to get the chance to thank you ladies once again. If you don't receive your invitation by the end of next week, and you think you should have received one, please email me at poohisstampin@aol.com! I don't want you to miss out! And don't forget: there's still time to get YOUR party in before October 27, if you want to come to the luncheon. It's one of the perks of being my hostess, and I think it's worth it! :D

The card above was made for me by my Tennessee Stampers Secret Sister. Isn't it pretty? Oval punches, faux stitching, and gingham ribbon are the perfect touches for this pretty So Saffron card. She's a very talented stamper, and I can't wait to thank her for all the beautiful cards she's sent me!
OK, I have a few more things to do before Becky P. picks me up! Have a WONDERFUL weekend, dear readers!!!!! Don't forget you have until MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 to enter the drawing for one of Greg McDougal's CDs!!! Just leave a comment on my blog - and look at Sept. 24's posting for more details. :)
TAKE THE TIME TO STAMP SOMETHING! I'll be sharing my projects with you next week from this weekend. :)

On the fly!

Hi, everyone!!!! I'm going on a stamping retreat this weekend with the Tennessee Stampers group - thanks to Becky P. - so I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off!!!!
Speaking of chickens....:) This two-page 6x6 layout was from this month's class. We had a lot of fun doing this one - although it's a little unorthodox for most people! :D We used Earth Elements Stampin' Spots to do the background. The turkey is almost all made of punches - except for the wattle (is that right? No time to look it up!!!) and the beak - and the only other stamping is the "Happy Thanksgiving" in the corner. The base is Very Vanilla, and the photo matting is Close to Cocoa.
I'll try to post one more time in the morning before I take off!! If I don't, have a WONDERFUL weekend, keep entering for Greg's CD, and TAKE TIME TO STAMP SOMETHING - and share it with someone else.

What an INCREDIBLE show, y'all!

You've visited this blog in numbers I never would have believed! Some of you have told me that you don't want to be entered in the drawing - that you're going to PURCHASE a CD to bless the McDougal family. You have been a TRUE blessing, and I can't tell you how much it means.

PLEASE KEEP IT COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm passing along pertinent comments to Greg - and we're all being abundantly blessed by knowing more people are praying, more people are thinking, more people are rejoicing in the love this family has for each other and for God. PLEASE continue to share his story with friends, family, ANYONE you can think of!

God bless you, dear reader!!!! I just wanted to show you another view of the family today. Keep leaving those comments - you have until OCTOBER 1 to leave one and get entered to win one of FIVE FREE CDs from Greg McDougal - read September 24's post for more details!

FREE CD GIVEAWAY!!!

Hi, everyone! Last night, we helped get Greg McDougal a venue at our church to have a concert. It was a small turnout, but I believe he touched most of the hearts of those there. Greg's been a family friend for four years now, and he continues to touch our lives - as well as the lives of people around us!
Greg was on the verge of going all-out in a country music career eight years ago, when God told him to walk away. Since then, he's been faithfully working to support his family as a carpenter. But God has told him to take up his guitar again, to raise money to help his family - and families of other special needs kids - to get what they need to take care of these needs at home. And God's blessing! Greg is nominated this year by the Christian Country Music Association for Best Album of the Year, and Best New Artist!
And now, you have a chance to win one of Greg's CDs. :) I've talked to him, and we'll give away FIVE of his CDs, "The Work of a Carpenter". If you'd like to learn more about him, and about his cause, please go check out his website here. You'll be blessed by his music, and touched by his ministry. The cause? Well, this picture is Greg with his four kids. Three of them - Jeffrey (the oldest), Sean, and Gracey (the youngest), have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. May I just tell you, they steal the show when they sing with Greg? :D Katie is a most precocious 5-year-old, and Greg and his wife, Diane, do a wonderful job of making sure she gets special attention, too.
They are a wonderful family, and I believe you'll LOVE the CD. SO, leave a comment here on my blog by OCTOBER 1, and we'll draw 5 names to win! :) Be sure to leave me a way to contact you - email, link to your blog, something! :)
GOOD LUCK! Oh, and be SURE to take the time to STAMP SOMETHING!!!!
